Busy Tuesday – here’s what you need to know, mostly (but not entirely) from the WSB West Seattle Events Calendar:

DROP BLOCK CLEANING: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today, West Seattle High Schoolentrance on the north side of (3000 California SW) will be the pick-up/drop-off point for equipment and bags for your DIY cleanup.

NOMINATED SDOT DIRECTOR:9:30 a.m., the municipal council Transportation and Utilities Committee will interview the candidate for the post of Director of SDOT Greg Spotts and possibly vote on his nomination. Agenda contains viewing and commenting information.

POSTCARDS TO VOTERS: 10:30 a.m. Remote Policy Volunteers weekly gathering at C&P Coffee (5612 California SW; WSB sponsor).

SPRAYPARK ALWAYS OPEN: The paddling pools are now all closed but Highland Park Water Park (1100 SW Cloverdale) remains open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily until September 18.

SCHOOL STRIKE VOTE ANNOUNCEMENT: At noon, the Seattle Education Association plans to announce the results of its strike vote at a press conference.

ALKI ARTS POP-UP IN THE JUNCTION: First day for this pop-up art shop – complete with murals – in the southeast corner of California/Oregon, from noon to 5 p.m., as previewed here.

COVID VACCINATION POP-UP: 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Delridge Library (5423 Delridge Way SW), vaccinations (Moderna) will be available.

RECONVOCATION OF THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL: 2 p.m., the first council meeting after the end of summer holidays is held online and in person – here is the agendawith information on how to comment.

PROTEST FOR BLACK LIVES: Long-running weekly event from 4:30-6:00 p.m. at 16th/Holden. Signs available if you don’t have one.

STORY TIME IN THE GARDEN: Bring your little one(s) for a story followed by a gardening activity, at the Delridge P-Patch6 p.m. (5078 25th SW).

TAE KWON DO: 6 p.m., first West Seattle Taekwondo September course, High Point Community Center. (6920 34th SW)

SCRABBLE EVENING: 6 p.m.-10 p.m., go play Scrabble at The missing piece (9456 35th SW).

FAMILY GAME NIGHT: Meeples Games (3727 California SW) welcomes families from 6-8 p.m. for this weekly game night.

WEST SEATTLE TOASTMASTERS: You’re invited to their online meeting tonight – learn how to be a confident communicator! – from 6:30 p.m.
