UPDATE: Walt Disney World Annual Passholders will need to show my Disney experience to receive discounts on dining and merchandise

We have now confirmed the rumor that Walt Disney World Annual Passholders will soon be required to show their pass in the My Disney Experience app to prove their eligibility for dining and merchandise discounts.

Currently, annual pass holders can show their photo ID and physical pass. However, Annual Pass cards no longer have their expiration date printed on the back. As a result, Disney is updating the policy to require customers to prove their eligibility exclusively with My Disney Experience instead.

Passholders can find their pass in the app by clicking on the three-line “burger” menu, then “Tickets & Passes.” You may need to scroll through the tickets of friends and family linked to you to find your own pass. It will show your name, the type of pass (like a wizard pass), and the expiration date.

Rumor has it that pass holders would have to show the app to get meal discounts. We have confirmed that it will also be required for merchandise discounts.
