Two dead in Fairfield, NJ, stabbed, police say

FAIRFIELD — An elderly husband and wife were found dead in an adult community on Friday morning, according to Acting Essex County District Attorney Theodore Stephen.

Frank Forte, 84, and Catherine Forte, 83, were found dead in their Fairfield flat on Greenbrook Road at 7.05am, Stephen confirmed on Friday evening.

As reported by ABC 7 Eyewitness Newsciting unnamed police sources, the man stabbed the woman multiple times and then stabbed himself. An assistant called 911 when she found the bodies when she arrived at their apartment.

The Essex County District Attorney’s Office chief assistant prosecutor, Thomas S. Fennelly, previously told New Jersey 101.5 that the cause and manner of death were pending autopsies.

There was no danger to the community, according to Fennelly.
