Pokemon Go players plagued by Facebook login error at GO Fest Seattle

. Last update: July 22, 2022

Pokemon Go Fest Seattle 2022 promises a weekend full of exciting gameplay in Washington, but a connection error for Facebook users caused an untimely plague during the event.

In addition to the annual global Go Fest, Pokemon Go hosts several city-specific events around the world. And this weekend, July 22-24, is Pokemon Go Fest Seattle.

Washington residents and those who choose to travel can enjoy an exclusive three-day event for $25. From 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., players can catch special Pokémon while exploring designated areas around Seattle. However, players can only participate on one out of three days, per Niantic rules.

And with that in mind, the first group of Pokemon Go Fest Seattle attendees got off to a rocky start. Those using Facebook to log into the Pokemon Go app were unable to access the game due to a nuisance error.

Pokemon Go Fest Facebook Error

Several people have reported the error on the r/pokemongo subreddit saying they were unable to log in. The common thread was that each player uses their Facebook account to log in. Players using other login methods were not affected.

The error message said “Application not active: This application is currently not accessible and the application developer is aware of the problem. You will be able to log in when the application is reactivated.

A lot of players have also reported this happening while at Go Fest Seattle, costing them valuable game time. It wouldn’t be until two hours after the start of the event that the problem would be resolved.

Pokemon Go fixes the problem and offers compensation

Niantic would later tweet that the issue had been resolved and thank players for their patience. They also advised players to add additional login methods to their accounts to avoid such issues in the future.

And since those affected missed a good chunk of game time, Pokemon Go offered a few bonuses to Friday ticket holders. Every Friday Pokémon GO Fest: Seattle ticket holders will receive the following:

  • Tonight, July 22, the City Event Experience will be available for two additional hours from 7:00-9:00 PM PT
  • A bonus municipal session from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. PT will be available tomorrow, Saturday, July 23, throughout Seattle
  • A free bundle will be available in the app store, containing 1 Star Piece, 1 Lucky Egg and 1 Super Incubator

So while Go Fest Seattle got off to a rocky start, it’s nice to see Niantic trying to put things right. Hopefully those extended hours of play will suffice for the time lost by Friday ticket holders.
