India’s merchandise exports from April to June 2021 worth $ 95.36 billion


India’s merchandise exports in June were $ 32.46 billion, an increase of 47.34% and 29.7% from $ 22.03 billion in June 2020 and 25.03 billion dollars in June 2019 respectively. Merchandise exports from April to June amounted to $ 95.36 billion, an increase of 85.36% and 17.85% from $ 51.44 billion in 2020 and 80.91 billion dollars in 2019 respectively over the same period.

The country’s merchandise imports in June 2021 stood at $ 41.86 billion, an increase of 96.33% and 2.03% from $ 21.32 billion in June 2020 and $ 41.03 billion dollars in June 2019.

Merchandise imports in April-June this year amounted to $ 126.14 billion, an increase of 107.99% from $ 60.65 billion in April-June 2020 and a decrease of 3, 05% compared to $ 130.1 billion during the same period in 2019, according to the Ministry of Commerce.

India is therefore a net importer in June 2021 with a trade deficit of $ 9.4 billion, enlarged by 1426.6% from the trade surplus of $ 0.71 billion in June 2020 (India was a net exporter in June 2020) and reduced by 41.26% from the trade deficit of $ 16.0 billion in June 2019.

Cotton yarn / fabric / made-up and hand-woven products showed positive export growth of 50.86% in June 2021 compared to June 2019.

For the same period of comparison, handicrafts and exclusive hand-made rugs recorded an export growth of 18.83 percent; artificial yarns / fabrics / made-up articles recorded an export growth of 23.66 percent; and jute manufacturing (including flooring) grew 23.97 percent, according to an official press release.

All textiles ready-to-wear exports experienced negative growth of 18.76 percent and those of leather and leather products also experienced negative growth of 21 percent.

Imports of leather and leather goods experienced negative growth of 18.43% and those of textile yarns, fabrics and made-up articles fell 9.66% in June 2021 compared to June 2019.
