Owner Diane Macrae sums up the Venue shopping experience well: “People aren’t just there to buy things … they’re there to choose something special.”
Filled with beautiful and unique items made entirely by Washington-based artists, Place is the best place to find the perfect gift or treat for yourself.
A designer herself, Macrae started Venue in 2005 so that local artists had a brick and mortar shop to grow their businesses and not rely on exclusive selling at fairs and festivals. Today, more than 15 years later, Venue is full of beautiful locally created objects.
From art to home goods, beauty products and accessories, Venue offers a diverse range of products and artists. And you can actually see who made each product in the store – Macrae posts a photo of each artist next to their products.
Macrae encourages shoppers to “take their time, slowly browse the store and just soak up it.” Look through the variety of footprints, she said, smell the candles, hold this glass object up to the light. After all, someone in your community (maybe even your neighbor!) Made this item and thought about creating it.
The products alone are reason enough to shop at Venue, but shopping at Venue directly supports the local community. Macrae notes that “Supporting a local artist really gives back to the community you have chosen to live in.” Shopping at this beautiful boutique is the perfect mix of supporting local artists and local businesses.
As holiday shopping quickly approaches, Macrae notes the importance of shopping early this year. The venue will be removing holiday items earlier than usual in anticipation of longer delivery times for gifts this year.
But don’t go to Venue with gifts in mind. Macrae reminds shoppers that it’s okay to push away the feelings of guilt that can come with buying something for yourself. There is nothing wrong with giving yourself things that can “brighten up your mood, your life or your space.” After all, it could be a while since you last treated yourself.
Stop by for holiday shopping and keep an eye out for something special for your own space – all your money will be well spent at Venue.
